Technical part
The applicant of the present application is a company that develops its activity in a very specialized niche market and is a leader in the roof tent segment.
Within this framework, it has developed solutions that allow the user (usually drivers of off-road vehicles and lovers of camping and caravanning) to have ever more pleasant and innovative experiences.
If the shape of these tents (when closed, for setting up and transporting) is an important factor - especially considering the aerodynamic requirements - the ease of use has attracted the attention of the applicant manufacturer.
The inventor has therefore developed an innovative method for opening and closing roof tents: simpler, lighter and more practical, but also with aesthetic advantages.
The type of tents to which the invention relates are very specific objects in which both their general shape (so as not to cause increased friction) and their specific design (they are mounted on the vehicle and complement its contours) are fundamental aspects to be considered. In addition, the devices must be practical: they must be easy to assemble, convenient to use and quick to dismantle and store away.
There was therefore a need for more comfort and ease in opening and closing these roof tents.
In fact, the invention proposes a solution where instead of a normal zipper or instead of hinges, clips, springs or similar solutions, there are two profile parts along the edges of both roof tent parts. The configuration of the profiles is designed in such a way that the tent is closed by simply squeezing them together. To open - unhook and release the profiles - a button on the outside that is concealed and pressed on one of the profiles is sufficient.
State of the art
When it comes to opening and closing rooftop tents, traditional solutions such as buckle closures, snap closures, etc. are used according to the current state of the art. Zippers would be a configurable solution, but they are not particularly suitable for structures as rigid and relatively heavy and bulky as rooftop tents.
The roof tent is an object of considerable size and is mounted on vehicles, mostly off-road vehicles, at a considerable height - and fastened. This requires special access via a ladder to open - and set up - the tent and to take it down and close it. This process can be somewhat time consuming and uncomfortable.
The invention represents a simpler, lighter, more convenient and more efficient proposal for this process of erecting and dismantling roof tents.
Description of the figures
Figure 1 represents an average of the two parts of the roof tent (1) and shows the front profile (2), the rear profile (3) and the push button (4). The tab (3-a) of the rear profile (3) protruding obliquely inwards and the locking slot (2-a) on the outer edge of the front profile (2) are visible; Figure 2 shows in section the two parts of the roof tent (1) approaching the moment of assembly of the front profile (2) and the rear profile (3), with the push button (4) visible and the sloping cover (3- a) of the rear profile (3) enters the locking slot (2-a) of the front profile (2); Figure 3 shows a section through the closed roof tent (1) showing the rear profile (3) with a slanting inwardly projecting tab (3-a) which is fitted into the locking incision (2-a) of the front profile (2). , and the pushbutton (4) shows.
Description of the best mode for carrying out the invention.
The invention shows itself essentiallyin the placement of profiles on the peripheral edges of the two parts of the roof tent (Fig. 1 to Fig. 3);in the presence of a pronounced tab on the edge of one profile and a slit on the lower edge of the other;in the presence of a push button (whereby, in the best way of implementation, two units are placed in the front area and near the corners;)in the possibility, through a simple form, when the push button is pressed and it immediately releases the two parts of the roof tent, detaching the rear profile from its front counterpart.
In an advantageous embodiment of the invention, the profiles are arranged on three of the sides of the roof tent, with a constructive attachment to one of the sides (in particular by hinges) is possible and opening is only possible in the profiled area. Alternatively, the profiles can be placed along the entire perimeter of the roof tent and one part can be completely separated from the other part by simply pressing buttons located along the perimeter.
A front profile (2) is mounted on the edge of the upper part of the roof tent (1). This profile is provided with a locking slot (2-a) that allows the two profiles to be interlocked.
In fact, the rear profile (3) attached to the edge of the lower part of the roof tent (1) has a pronounced sloping flap (3-a) protruding towards the inside of the tent.
The shape and orientation of this oblique tab (3-a) allows it to be inserted, with slight pressure, in the locking slot (2-a) in the front profile (2).
After closing the roof tent (1), as shown in fig. 1, the two parts are hermetically connected. To open the tent, just press the button (4), which in turn will move the slanting tab (3-a) and free it from the locking notch (2-a).
The oblique tab (3-a) can have various configurations provided that it allows its entry, its tension and its fixation in the locking slot (2-a) of the opposite profile.
By simply pressing between the two roof tent parts, through the surrounding profiles, the roof tent closes; by gently pressing the button (4) the tent opens and the assembly process is accelerated.
A practical, comfortable and simple solution is thus created which offers a clear advantage for the user of a roof tent.
